Marion Police Self Defense Class277 viewsOn November 6 and 8, women ages 15 and up learned basic, self-defense strategies from Marion Police Officer Captain Carl MacDermott III at the Music Hall. Awareness of one’s surroundings was a prime message, and participants practiced moves under assault. Center School277 viewsCenter School in Mattapoisett was temporarily evacuated on March 13 after a small transformer malfunctioned in the electrical room and created a light-smoke condition, according to Mattapoisett Fire Chief Andy Murray. The transformer was isolated and de-energized. The Fire Department ventilated the room and reset the alarm. Dr. Grassian is researching Diel Vertical Migration, or the daily vertical migration of animals in the mesopelagic zone of the ocean in response to light and predation.
