The Warriors earned their spot in the championship game with a big, 10-2 victory over the Heat, while the Knicks advanced to the title game, narrowly edging the Celtics, 10-8. Marion Natural History Museum415 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum after-school group wishes to thank Isaac Perry and the Marion Harbormasters for allowing us to view some of our native ocean birds. On April 27, we were able to make it to Bird Island to view the nesting boxes that have been set up by the state for the soon-to-arrive terns, which rely on this island as a safe spot to raise their young. Marion Firefighters Association415 viewsBill Bacchiocchi, Andrew Pottle, Shawn Alden and Marion firefighter Eli Arne engage in a spirited game of horseshoes at Silvershell Beach, part of Sunday’s tournament held to benefit the Marion Firefighters Association, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Attendees enjoyed the competition, antique trucks, live music from the band US, a craft beer garden and barbecue. The event not only restored the six horseshoe pits at Silvershell but also raised funds to support the many programs that aid past & present

ORR Spirit Week415 viewsThe culmination of Old Rochester Regional High School’s Spirit Week was a pep rally held after October 7 classes in the gymnasium. ORR sophomores performed a Wizard of Oz skit, and the ORR Bulldog joined Dorothy and company. The seniors displayed a "Back in Time/Back to the Future" theme, featuring a cleverly constructed “Delorean,” a colorful aerobics class, lots of action and energetic music with Marty McFly and Doc Brown characters joined by the heroic Bulldog.

Llama Visit415 viewsLauren and Jeff Paine from Pine Meadow Farm in Mattapoisett brought Chocolate and Patience to visit the children at the Loft School on October 20. The Pre-K class has been learning about Peru this month. The children had a chance to ask questions, see what Alpacas eat, feel their shorn fur and pet their new friends. In November, Pine Meadow Farm will be holding an Open House, where the public can visit the animals and purchase unique products. Courtesy photo

415 viewsSaturday’s Pumpkin Palooza hosted by the Marion Council of Aging and the Recreation Department at the Cushing Community Center. Families decorated pumpkins, and children enjoyed face painting, a hula-hoop contest, dancing, a visit from Pine Meadow Farm animals and refreshments supported by Tabor Academy volunteers. Pumpkins were later illuminated, giving the pavilion an eerie weekend presence. Sixty-five families preregistered to participate in the event inspired by Marion citizen Dianne Cosman
