Mattapoisett Library329 viewsOn August 7, the Mattapoisett Library hosted the New England Coastal Wildlife Alliance. Interns from the Wareham-based agency gave a hands-on talk to small children on local sea turtles. NECWA studies local marine life, collecting data for a variety of agencies. September 11 Ceremony329 viewsThe Town of Marion held a ceremony on September 11 to mark the 20th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the United States, the courage shown by first responders, and the memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their nation. ORR Field Hockey329 viewsEach year, the Old Rochester Regional High School field hockey team members engage in a community service project. This year, on September 15, they went to "Sharing the Harvest Community Farm" at the YMCA of Dartmouth. The team worked hard in planting and preparing the fields for the next set of crops. Marion Lagoon329 viewsThe forebay wall is in place at Marion's Wastewater Treatment Plant lagoon. Solids will be processed to the northwest side of the concrete wall, right, and liquids in the larger area of the lagoon on the southeast side, according to DPW Director Nathaniel Munafo. A liner made up of over 30 pieces is on site awaiting final surface grading by Methuen Construction and the installation of a Multiflo infrastructural piping system.

First Congregational Church of Marion 329 viewsThe First Congregational Church of Marion welcomed a group of enthusiastic and energetic children from Kindergarten to sixth grade to the church's Vacation Bible School held August 15-19. The children enjoyed a full, exciting week of creative projects, interactive Bible stories and lots of recreational games. Marion Natural History Museum 329 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum community group and the Nasketucket Bird Club had a wonderful birding walk on November 16 led by Justin Barrett. We were able to identify over 18 different species of birds including belted kingfishers, golden-crowned kinglets, and red-breasted Nuthatches.
