Marion Natural History Museum429 viewsOn May 24, the Marion Natural History Museum and Sippican Lands Trust teamed up to learn about the latest developments in the protection of Right Whales. Dr. Michael Moore, Right Whale biologist with Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, gave us the most recent data collected about this species. Rochester Historical Society429 viewsMalcolm Phinney, his wife Kathy and Claire Smith and her husband Howard “Howie” wore period costumes and shared oral histories of early American life during the Rochester Historical Society’s Fun Fair with A Flair held on June 22. Children learned how to load a musket, Boy Scouts Troop 31 demonstrated archery skills, visitors enjoyed live music and baked goods and those who ducked inside the 1857 East Rochester Church were treated to an amazing display of artifacts. Lions Club Triathlon429 views2024 Old Rochester High School graduate Tyler Young of Marion and Heather Peckham of Middletown, Rhode Island, finished first in the respective men’s and women’s categories of Sunday morning’s Lions Club Triathlon at the Mattapoisett Town Beach. Presiding was the Benjamin D. Cushing VFW Post 2425 Color Guard. Some form galls, others go into a deep hibernation, some freeze solid, and others hide inside or under things like trees or leaves.
