Circus Time596 viewsThe Cole Brothers Circus made its annual visit to Rochester's Plumb Corner on Wednesday, June 24 and Thursday, June 25. The Circus, which featured highflying aerial acts, animal acts and plenty of clowns played four shows under the big top during its two-day stay. Holiday Shop595 viewsThe Annual Holiday Shop is now open at the Marion Art Center. Thirty-six artists and artisans offer a variety of jewelry, ceramics, clothing, cards, glass, ornaments, photography, paintings, puppets, ribbons, birds, scrimshaw, furniture and fiber. Essay Contest Winner595 viewsHeidi Schneider, an eighth grade student at Friends Academy in North Dartmouth, won first prize in the Dartmouth, Massachusetts VFW Patriot’s Pen Essay Contest. The Patriot’s Pen essay contest gives sixth, seventh and eighth grade students the opportunity to express their opinion on a patriotic theme and improve their writing skills, while they compete for worthwhile awards and prizes. Friends Academy’s seventh and eighth grade English teacher Lauren Corliss encouraged all of her students to participate in the essay writing contest.
