Salty 100 Regatta299 viewsRed Shift reaches the finish line of the inaugural Salty 100 regatta, raced August 27-28 from Marion harbor beyond Point Judith, Rhode Island, and back. Red Shift, skippered by Jo Riley of Massachusetts Maritime Academy, finished the race in 21 hours, 14 minutes and 15 seconds and was runner-up among the 11 boats in the PHRF 145 class. Fall Free Family Fun Festival299 viewsThe sixth annual Lions Club Fall Free Family Fun Festival was held on October 22 in Shipyard Park. Hundreds of children enjoyed face painting, fortune tellers, hayrides and games with a Halloween theme. King Lion Kimberly Ray said the event is an opportunity for people of all economic backgrounds to enjoy a family day together for free. Along with perusing guidebooks to identify an item, we learned the importance of the history of the artifact, where and when it was collected and by whom.
