Elizabeth Taber Statue433 viewsOn July 14, work began on the Elizabeth Taber Statue site at Bicentennial Park in Marion. The site will include granite steppers, concrete paving, lighting, two wooden benches and a granite bench for Elizabeth to sit on. There will be room on either side of the granite bench for folks to sit and thank Elizabeth for all that she did for Marion. Osprey Marsh Accessible Boardwalk433 viewsDespite a downpour perfectly timed for its planned gathering on Friday off Point Road in Marion, the Sippican Lands Trust celebrated the completion of the new Osprey Marsh Accessible Boardwalk. Executive Director Jim Bride and president Alan Harris held a live Zoom meeting for those who could not attend, and some of the donors for the project assisted in the ribbon-cutting. Mattapoisett Retiries 433 viewsFour recently retired, municipal employee relations were honored Tuesday afternoon for their long tenure and service to Mattapoisett and its residents at an outdoor ceremony. The four retirees are former Library Director Susan Pizzolato (11 years), former assistant Harbormaster Bob Ketchel (25 years), and Highway Department employees Jay DuPont (19 years) and Roger Fleurent (12 years). Pizzolato and Ketchel also received citations from the House of Representatives and the state senate.

Ms. Jerline used her Nature Anatomy book to help the girls identify plants. Ms. Liz and Ms. Alda helped the girls carry a tune as they learned three new songs for their Girl Scout Way badge. Ms. Tia helped remind them to maintain their 6 feet of distance with her yardstick and keep their masks on— they did so well! We welcomed a new girl from Acushnet.

Andrew Daniel, Rochester facilities manager who was instrumental in bringing the petition to Nelson’s attention, and Dexter’s sister Debbie Townsend both shared words with the packed house that turned out in Dexter’s honor.
