Marion Natural History Museum216 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum hosted a Nature Journaling program on October 3 with artist Tricia Cassidy. We enjoyed beautiful weather while hearing about a variety of strategies to allow everyone, even the most insecure participants, to be able to express the beauty of the natural environment on paper. We enjoyed several loosening-up exercises by playing with time constraints, not looking at the paper while drawing the subject, and framing our subject so as not to get too confused with the big picture.

Chief Garcia Retires216 viewsAt 2:06 pm on Friday, December 11, Marion Chief of Police John Garcia signed off to radio dispatch, ending his shift and a law enforcement career that spanned three and a half decades. The Town of Marion recognized his retirement with a drive-thru sendoff outside the Cushman Community Center. Cruz with a Commonwealth of Massachusetts Certificate of Recognition as a "Hero in our Community" and given three books to add to his donation to the Tri-Town Against Racism Diversity Library for local schools. Robertson, The Wanderer's Keel Award winner in Rochester for 2020.

Marion Natural History Museum216 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum after-school group had a wonderful time learning about the Eastern Box Turtle with Brian Butler of Oxbow Associates, Inc. Brian explained why land turtles are rounder than turtles that live in water, and that turtles have been on earth for 200 million years. Box turtles protect themselves by pulling their heads and legs into their shell and closing up, however they don't move very fast.
