Mattapoisett Sailing439 viewsThe Mattapoisett Sailing program is in its final week for the 2020 season. Begun in 2006 in memory of William Mee, the program is open to community children divided into two age groups that meet weekday mornings and afternoons at Mattapoisett Town Beach. From 9-11 am and 1-3 pm, students sail under the watchful eye of experienced instructors and three safety boats. Marion natural History Museum439 viewsThe Museum hosted a very popular program for adults who wanted to learn a little about slowing down and becoming more aware of the health benefits of the forest. Professional forest bathing guide and author Nadine Mazzola led our group through some simple and restful exercises such as "the pleasures of presence" and noticing "what's in motion", to slow down and allow the forest to help us relax and feel more joyful.

Brad Hathaway439 viewsIt took 32 years, but on October 3 Mattapoisett resident Brad Hathaway completed his “Walk around the World” along Aucoot Road, accompanied by well over 100 friends and supporters of his mission refocused some years ago from what had begun as a fitness prescription to a fundraising effort for the Mattapoisett Land Trust. Hathaway, 88, is a co-founder of the MLT and has dedicated his life toward preserving and protecting lands that his ancestors first came upon hundreds of years ago.

Melody Pacheco439 viewsOn March 17 family, friends, and co-workers came out in force to beep and wave at retiring Mattapoisett Town Hall employee Melody Pacheco, who ended her 35-year career after serving in a variety of capacities, including assistant to the town administrator, for over a decade. Ospreys439 viewsThe ospreys have doing some home renovations, and mother osprey has not left her nest since mid April. The father seems to go fishing, snack on the fish, and bring the rest to the mother. Hopefully, we will see some babies in June. It looks like his fish feast could feed a family of four.
