Rochester Memorial Day Boat Race358 viewsIt rained, again, for the Rochester Memorial Day Boat Race on Monday, May 29, but that never stops the participants from paddling the 14 miles of the Mattapoisett River that winds from Grandma Hartley’s Reservoir in Snipatuit Pond in Rochester all the way to the Herring Weir in Mattapoisett off River Road and Route 6. This was the 83rd year of the Tri-Town tradition. Photos by Jean Perry

Ospreys358 viewsThe ospreys have doing some home renovations, and mother osprey has not left her nest since mid April. The father seems to go fishing, snack on the fish, and bring the rest to the mother. Hopefully, we will see some babies in June. It looks like his fish feast could feed a family of four. Well over 100 people of all ages enjoyed the opportunity to visit with and learn about exotic animals. The younger members of the crowd listened intently as they heard about the eating habits and habitats of bearded dragons, Nigerian goats, lop-eared rabbits, tortoises, and alpacas, for which the farm is known.
