The event included musical entertainment by Tri-County musicians, Grades 4 and 5 bands from Sippican Elementary School, Sippican Historical Society carolers and Tabor Academy students, horse-drawn carriage rides, street entertainment, seasonal refreshments courtesy of area merchants, goodie bags from VASE, and crafts for kids. Rochester Historical Commission358 viewsThe Rochester Historical Commission began its historic plaque program as a way to enhance knowledge of the town's history. Recently, a plaque was placed at the Town Pound on Snipatuit Rd. by commission member, George Owen. The pound was not for household pets but for stray farm animals and problem animals of all sizes. While there were once many stone pounds of this type, most are gone. This pound from 1741 is a concrete reminder of Rochester's past.
