Cardboard Boat Race 358 viewsORRJHS held the 6th annual Cardboard Boat Race on June 15 during S.C.O.P.E. week for 7th grade students. S.C.O.P.E. – Student Centered Opportunities for Personal Enrichment – is a week-long program that offers activities that challenge students while having fun! In addition to the cardboard boat race at the Mattapoisett YMCA, the week was filled with trips, tours, and activities, such as team building and the ropes course at the Dartmouth YMCA, a visit to Historic Faneuil Hall. Executive Director Jim Bride and president Alan Harris held a live Zoom meeting for those who could not attend, and some of the donors for the project assisted in the ribbon-cutting. Mattapoisett Retiries 358 viewsFour recently retired, municipal employee relations were honored Tuesday afternoon for their long tenure and service to Mattapoisett and its residents at an outdoor ceremony. The four retirees are former Library Director Susan Pizzolato (11 years), former assistant Harbormaster Bob Ketchel (25 years), and Highway Department employees Jay DuPont (19 years) and Roger Fleurent (12 years). Pizzolato and Ketchel also received citations from the House of Representatives and the state senate.
