Santa Arrives236 viewsThe Town of Rochester wasn’t able to host its traditional Christmas celebration this year, but the Fire Department made sure that Santa and Mrs. Claus and Sparky visited with children on Sunday outside Town Hall, where Board of Selectmen Chairman Paul Ciaburri presided over the lighting of the tree. Ciaburri was thrilled to report that the Christmas Angels, run by Lorraine Thompson with volunteers from the Council on Aging, the public library, local businesses, schools, and churches haven’t missed a beat.

Snow Geese236 viewsFaith Ball wanted to share some shots of three snow geese that she spotted in Mattapoisett Harbor during her Saturday morning walk. The geese flew in alone, then slowly joined a large flock of Canada Geese that were also in the area.

Mattapoisett Library236 viewsOn August 7, the Mattapoisett Library hosted the New England Coastal Wildlife Alliance. Interns from the Wareham-based agency gave a hands-on talk to small children on local sea turtles. NECWA studies local marine life, collecting data for a variety of agencies. Oyster Festival236 viewsWhat do you get when you mix good music with good foods like pizza and oysters washed down with beer? Well, the 3rd Annual Beer and Oyster Festival hosted by the Sippican Lands Trust, of course. This year’s event was held on September 18 on the grounds of the Cushing Community Center in Marion. Christmas Swim236 viewsKate Butler was last to arrive but last one out of the water after two dozen people braved the cold, raw elements of the 2021 Christmas morning swim held December 25 at Mattapoisett Town Beach. The event was held for the benefit of Helping Hands and Hooves, a program run by Julie Craig and Debbie Dyson that offers experiences, especially horseback riding, to people with cognitive challenges who have aged out of the many children's programs.
