Grandchildren, grandparents, couples and kids all had fun making their wreaths. An Advent wreath is a circle of greenery with four candles. The candles represent the four Sundays leading up to Christmas. As it was the first Sunday of Advent, so we lit the first candle. Marion Village Stroll359 viewsCars lined several Marion streets as residents gathered for the town’s Christmas Stroll on December 12. Front Street and connecting village roads were partially closed for the event, as families enjoyed refreshments provided by area merchants at their doorsteps and along the roads. Clydesdale horses escorted Santa Claus and passengers, while the Sippican Elementary School Band played, Tabor Academy student singer Wesley Lai of Hong Kong sang, and a bike rider juggled bowling pins. Bowman’s career dates back to 1971 when she began teaching at the Hathaway School in New Bedford. She has been serving in the Old Rochester Regional School District over 30 years and says that education has evolved so that children are consumed less with rote instruction and now are learning how to think through creative problem-solving.
