Santa Arrives321 viewsThe Town of Rochester wasn’t able to host its traditional Christmas celebration this year, but the Fire Department made sure that Santa and Mrs. Claus and Sparky visited with children on Sunday outside Town Hall, where Board of Selectmen Chairman Paul Ciaburri presided over the lighting of the tree. Ciaburri was thrilled to report that the Christmas Angels, run by Lorraine Thompson with volunteers from the Council on Aging, the public library, local businesses, schools, and churches haven’t missed a beat.

Poetry321 viewsBodil Perkins recently made this book for her aunt, Ann Briggs, who is 90 years old and has lived in Mattapoisett most of her life. The book contains 42 poems and the library recently said it was a "delightful book" and will be accepting a donated copy. Ann started taking poetry classes in her 80s.

Ospreys321 viewsThe ospreys have doing some home renovations, and mother osprey has not left her nest since mid April. The father seems to go fishing, snack on the fish, and bring the rest to the mother. Hopefully, we will see some babies in June. It looks like his fish feast could feed a family of four. Marion Cub Scouts321 viewsOn May 22, Marion Cub Scouts Pack 32 celebrated its annual Blue and Gold Banquet at its home base, Camp Hadley. In these unique times, these cubs had the most challenging year ever. They were diligent, reverent, and kind as they completed all of their achievements. Nolan Fest321 viewsThe first-ever Nolan Fest was held on July 11 at Silvershell Beach in Marion to honor the late Nolan Gibbons, who tragically passed away on August 18, 2020. The festival featured live music and words presented by area and national contributors, along with video tributes and a fire show. The event was held for the benefit of Helping Hands and Hooves, a program run by Julie Craig and Debbie Dyson that offers experiences, especially horseback riding, to people with cognitive challenges who have aged out of the many children's programs.
