Society for Creative Anachronism360 viewsThe Society for Creative Anachronism visited a farm in Rochester on Sunday, June 7 for its medieval armored combat competition, the 2015 Baronial Thrown Weapons and Archery Championship. The local SCA group, “The Barony of Smoking Rocks,” is a group of lovers of all things from Renaissance and medieval history, who fully immerse themselves in it with authentic costume and activities. Kevin Tavares, associate principal, challenged the kids to raise 481 canned goods to top Mr. T’s 480 – they collected over 800 instead! Brad Barrows Ride360 viewsThe annual Brad Barrows Ride took place on Saturday, September 19, with around 60 to 70 participants riding on roughly 40 motorcycles. The fundraiser proceeds go to fund local youth sports, a cause that was dear to the late Barrows’ heart. Barrows was the owner of the bad “Brad’s” in Mattapoisett until his death in 2007.
