Brownie Girl Scout Troop 325 viewsBrownie Girl Scout Troop 67047 hiked the Sippican Land Trust Osprey walk in Marion on Sunday. Ms. Jerline used her Nature Anatomy book to help the girls identify plants. Ms. Liz and Ms. Alda helped the girls carry a tune as they learned three new songs for their Girl Scout Way badge. Ms. Tia helped remind them to maintain their 6 feet of distance with her yardstick and keep their masks on— they did so well! We welcomed a new girl from Acushnet.

Valentine’s Day Drive-thru325 viewsVolunteers distributed over 100 dinners during the Marion Council on Aging’s Valentine’s Day drive-thru event on February 13 at the Cushing Community Center. The dinners donated by Mike Crosby helped make up for the fact the town’s seniors were not able to enjoy Valentine’s Day quite like they did last year inside the building with music and dancing. Fish Ladder Repair325 viewsThe Mattapoisett Water Department, along with the assistance of the state’s Division of Marine Fisheries and local herring inspectors, were able to purchase the necessary lumber and rebuild the fish ladder at the Mattapoisett River Dam. There are 13 ladders that make up the weir, which allows easier access for the herring to head upstream. They are hoping to see the first few fish within the next couple of weeks.
