Alumni Basketball365 viewsThe Old Rochester Regional High School alumni and the ORR boys’ and girls’ basketball teams shared a couple of friendly games of basketball on March 29 during the 2nd annual Old Rochester Regional Hall of Fame Alumni Hoops Classic. Old Rochester Regional High Graduation 365 viewsThe Old Rochester Regional High Graduation ceremony on June 4 included speeches from Superintendent Doug White, Principal Michael Devoll, Class President Bailey Sweet, and Valedictorian Paige Watterson. Cardboard Boat Race 365 viewsORRJHS held the 6th annual Cardboard Boat Race on June 15 during S.C.O.P.E. week for 7th grade students. S.C.O.P.E. – Student Centered Opportunities for Personal Enrichment – is a week-long program that offers activities that challenge students while having fun! In addition to the cardboard boat race at the Mattapoisett YMCA, the week was filled with trips, tours, and activities, such as team building and the ropes course at the Dartmouth YMCA, a visit to Historic Faneuil Hall. 4th of July365 viewsMattapoisett Boatyard set up its 40-foot mooring barge with a 50-foot crane to display a 30 foot by 50 foot American flag in the middle of Mattapoisett harbor. The flag was supplied by Richard DeMello, who owns Bete-Fleming Inc. in Mattapoisett and was reportedly thrilled to see the flag on display. Ned Kaiser of Mattapoisett Boatyard conjured up the idea a few days prior, thinking this would be a great way to give back and display the United States flag boldly and with pride. Brownie Girl Scout Troop 365 viewsBrownie Girl Scout Troop 67047 hiked the Sippican Land Trust Osprey walk in Marion on Sunday. Ms. Jerline used her Nature Anatomy book to help the girls identify plants. Ms. Liz and Ms. Alda helped the girls carry a tune as they learned three new songs for their Girl Scout Way badge. Ms. Tia helped remind them to maintain their 6 feet of distance with her yardstick and keep their masks on— they did so well! We welcomed a new girl from Acushnet.
