RBG367 viewsRegina McIntyre of Angelica Avenue in Mattapoisett erected a small but poignant memorial outside her home to honor Ruth Bader Ginsburg following the Supreme Court Justice’s passing. “I couldn’t travel to Washington, so I decided to place this memorial here to remember her work on behalf of both women and men,” adding: “She was such an example, (a) role model.” It was a family affair as McIntyre’s sister dressed the Ginsburg doll in a hand-sewn robe complete with seed pearl collar and red shoes.

Brad Hathaway367 viewsIt took 32 years, but on October 3 Mattapoisett resident Brad Hathaway completed his “Walk around the World” along Aucoot Road, accompanied by well over 100 friends and supporters of his mission refocused some years ago from what had begun as a fitness prescription to a fundraising effort for the Mattapoisett Land Trust. Hathaway, 88, is a co-founder of the MLT and has dedicated his life toward preserving and protecting lands that his ancestors first came upon hundreds of years ago.

The longtime fundraising event was not held in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic but made a roaring return on Saturday, as children raced their homemade go-carts and collected donations for the Murphy and Others, Living Interdependently for Future Endeavors, Inc. Sippican Schooner 5k and Mini Fun Run 366 views Sunday, May 4 was a perfect day for a fun run through Marion, and about 200 people turned out to participate in VASE’s second annual Sippican Schooner 5k and Mini Fun Run to raise money for educational programs at Sippican Elementary School.
