Charles Stockbridge262 viewsOn March 27, local artist Charles Stockbridge gave a painting demonstration in the style of impressionist works at the Mattapoisett Public Library. Stockbridge is a classically-trained historian and painter whose works have hung in galleries and homes both near and far. While he is best known for landscapes and marine themes, Stockbridge has recently been exploring paintings that are more in the genre of a Claude Monet.

Mattapoisett Polar Plunge262 viewsNew Year’s Day 2023 was bright and balmy when over 100 “plungers” ran, walked, hopped and slid into the freezing waters at Mattapoisett Town Beach. The event was hosted by an ad hoc group collecting donations for those battling cancer. The group has been successful in their efforts to help offset the unseen costs associated with a cancer diagnosis impacting local families. On April 12, families gathered at Ned’s Point to celebrate Easter early with a traditional Easter egg hunt, sponsored by the Mattapoisett Lions Club. The Easter Bunny hopped over for a visit, giving children hugs and high-fives as parents scurried to take photos and comfort the smaller ones who were a little reluctant to approach. Second Annual Kid’s Equipment Day261 viewsLittle kids and big, big machines on a warm spring Marion morning made for tons of fun at the Marion Recreation’s Second Annual Kid’s Equipment Day on May 10. A row of different Town-owned vehicles including a police cruiser, ambulance, earth diggers, a fire engine, and fire trucks lined the Town House field.
