Brad Hathaway337 viewsIt took 32 years, but on October 3 Mattapoisett resident Brad Hathaway completed his “Walk around the World” along Aucoot Road, accompanied by well over 100 friends and supporters of his mission refocused some years ago from what had begun as a fitness prescription to a fundraising effort for the Mattapoisett Land Trust. Hathaway, 88, is a co-founder of the MLT and has dedicated his life toward preserving and protecting lands that his ancestors first came upon hundreds of years ago.

Melody Pacheco337 viewsOn March 17 family, friends, and co-workers came out in force to beep and wave at retiring Mattapoisett Town Hall employee Melody Pacheco, who ended her 35-year career after serving in a variety of capacities, including assistant to the town administrator, for over a decade. Classroom Donation337 viewsThe Mattapoisett Land Trust donated equipment to outfit an Outdoor Classroom, including a whiteboard and 24 colorful stools delivered to Old Hammondtown School by the Education Committee. Grade 5 students are working with Ben Squire, ORR District science coordinator, on an ongoing science compost project that analyzes the conditions needed for composting.
