Lions Club Triathlon274 viewsUnder merciful overcast skies on July 15, the 37th annual Lions Club Triathlon found 115 participants including seven relay teams vying for first place bragging rights. Coming in 1st place in the men’s division was Brian Hughes with a time of 51:38 minutes. Plymouth County CARES Act274 viewsOn August 10, Mattapoisett received two checks totaling $185,229 from the Plymouth County CARES Act, a fund established to help cities and towns offset unplanned expenses due to COVID-19. Presenting the checks were Plymouth County commissioners Sandra Wright and Gregory Hanley, along with Thomas O’Brien, the county treasurer, and Jim Cantwell, the state director. Brad Hathaway274 viewsIt took 32 years, but on October 3 Mattapoisett resident Brad Hathaway completed his “Walk around the World” along Aucoot Road, accompanied by well over 100 friends and supporters of his mission refocused some years ago from what had begun as a fitness prescription to a fundraising effort for the Mattapoisett Land Trust. Hathaway, 88, is a co-founder of the MLT and has dedicated his life toward preserving and protecting lands that his ancestors first came upon hundreds of years ago.
