Sippican Schooner 5k and Mini Fun Run 290 views Sunday, May 4 was a perfect day for a fun run through Marion, and about 200 people turned out to participate in VASE’s second annual Sippican Schooner 5k and Mini Fun Run to raise money for educational programs at Sippican Elementary School. VASE member Diana Martin organized the event, with the support of about 12 volunteers who assisted that morning in making sure the two races went off without a hitch. Photo by Felix Perez

Second Annual Kid’s Equipment Day290 viewsLittle kids and big, big machines on a warm spring Marion morning made for tons of fun at the Marion Recreation’s Second Annual Kid’s Equipment Day on May 10. A row of different Town-owned vehicles including a police cruiser, ambulance, earth diggers, a fire engine, and fire trucks lined the Town House field. Beginning at Grandma Hartley’s Reservoir on Snipatuit Road, boaters paddled the almost 12-mile race route to Herring Weir at River Road in Mattapoisett. There were 65 teams in all. Students chose an animal, did their own online research, created display boards, and donned costumes to bring their animals to life. The zoo continues on Friday, June 6 from 9:00-10:00 am. Classic Cars290 viewsClassic car enthusiasts from the area gathered Monday nights throughout the summer, riding up in their shiny antique cars and pulling up a lawn chair to sit back and reminisce about the good old days to the sounds of music from the ‘50s and ‘60s.
