Sprinkler Activation at ORR616 viewsThe Mattapoisett and Marion Fire Departments responded to ORR High School at 10:03am on Friday May 8, for a reported fire alarm activation. Upon arrival they found that a sprinkler head had been activated in the auditorium due to heightened heat levels. The cause of the heat was found to be a stuck thermostat on a heater in that area. The students, who vacated the school when the fire alarm sounded, remained outside the school enjoying the warm sunny day as the fire department worked to resolve the issue.

Soup Swap615 viewsReynard Hall of the Mattapoisett Congregational Church was brimming with several taste sensations on Saturday, January 27 as the church played host to its first annual Soup Swap fundraiser. A perfect antidote to the colder winter climate, the event was the brainchild of Kim Field (seen here with co-organizer Sharon Pinard, left) and it drew about 85 participants who cooked up their own special soup recipe to sample along with appetizers and desserts as well. Visitors were greeted by volunteers who offered everything from pony rides and face painting for children to extended tours of the expansive grounds, arena and barn.
