Mattapoisett Firefighter’s Association393 viewsThe Mattapoisett Firefighter’s Association hosted a chowder competition on September 13 on the Mattapoisett Knights of Columbus grounds. Between 300 and 400 guests came to sample the chowder of 16 different teams, split into two categories: public safety and professional. Buzzards Bay Watershed Ride 393 viewsIt was a windy ride for the 120 participants of the 9th Annual Buzzards Bay Watershed Ride on October 4. From Westport to Falmouth, cyclists rode either the 75-mile or 35-mile route to raise funds for the Buzzards Bay Coalition, bringing in nearly $90,000. Human Geometry393 viewsAudiences enjoyed the first of two fall drama productions at Tabor Academy last week. Drama teacher Mark Howland wrote and directed “Human Geometry,” which focused on how mathematical concepts can be used to understand human relationships. Audiences can look forward to another fall production, “Bang Bang You’re Dead,” opening Thursday, November 12, at 7:30 pm at the Will Parker Black Box Theatre. Special Olympics Young Athletes393 viewsRoughly 120 Tabor Academy students volunteered on January 10 to assist with the school’s first session of the Special Olympics Young Athletes™ program held at Tabor. The program offers children ages 3-7 with intellectual and developmental disabilities opportunities to engage in physical activities vital to mental and physical growth. Spearheaded by Math teacher Tim Cleary and Tabor senior Molly Bent, sessions continue January 17 to March 6 (no session February 7) at 2:00 pm at the Fish Center for Athletics
