RMS Basketball303 viewsIt was a pretty close game, 67-59, at Rochester Memorial School on January 23. It was the annual sixth grade vs. staff basketball game, and this year it was attended by a record crowd. $370 was raised for the Nurse Thayer Scholarship Fund. “It was a great event,” said RMS Principal Derek Medeiros. “It’s all about the engagement, and seeing all those people there was great.” Photos by Jean Perry

Rochester Movie Set303 viewsOnce The Wanderer first reported the presence of a Hollywood film crew in Rochester on April 2 word quickly spread, and so did the rumors that stars of the film production “Joy” were in town for the day. There were no star sightings, however Rochester resident Hilary Wood was able to get some photos of the action from her front yard, after the surprise of an Amish-driven horse and carriage caught her eye as it passed her window on Hartley Road. There was a performance by the Toe Jam Puppet Band, a Birds of Prey demonstration, face painting, and a rock-climbing wall. Shaw Farm Trail303 viewsJuly 31 was a big day for the Buzzards Bay Coalition, the Towns of Fairhaven and Mattapoisett, and the entire South Coast when 416 acres of farmland and conservation land were added to the Nasketucket Bay Conservation Project, which was formally completed with the addition of the Shaw Farm Trail that now links the bike path with the Nasketucket Bay State Reservation.
