The Princess and the Pea364 viewsOpening tonight, Thursday, March 17, the ORR Junior High School Drama Club presents “The Princess and the Pea,” starting at 7:00 pm in the ORRJHS auditorium. This is the second year the recently reconstituted drama club has presented a fairy tale-themed performance at the junior high, and the show features a cast of 33 with singing and dancing coordinated by a group of volunteer parents. Vernal Pools364 viewsGary Johnson of the Mattapoisett Land Trust led about a dozen on an excursion to the vernal pool at the Woodcock Preserve off Long Plain Road on Saturday, April 16, where they spotted the egg masses of the blue-spotted salamander, a species of ‘special concern,’ and the wood frog. Kids Equipment Fun Day364 viewsSaturday, May 7, was the date for the annual Kids Equipment Fun Day at Washburn Park in Marion, sponsored by Marion Recreation. The kids climbed aboard ambulances, fire trucks, police cruisers, and even the harbormaster’s boat. Rochester Memorial Day364 viewsRochester fared far better with its Memorial Day celebration than Marion and Mattapoisett did with theirs on rainy Monday. Sunday, May 29, was a picture perfect day for a parade. At the Town Hall, the names of the fallen soldiers were read aloud and the Rochester Memorial School Band played patriotic songs before heading out for the parade. Photos by Colin Veitch
