The Mattapoisett Library hosted a Blackout Poetry Lab on Saturday, April 21, and provided all the materials for any blackout poet to explore the art form. The Magical Lamp of Aladdin405 viewsCome see the ORR Junior High School Drama Club present its production of “The Magical Lamp of Aladdin” on March 15 at 7:00 pm, and March 16 at 2:00 pm in the ORRJHS auditorium. The show stars Storm Lanzoni as the charming and rather acrobatic Aladdin, Emma Zhou as Princess Jasmine, plus, not one, but three genies – Cattarinha Nunes as the Genie of the Ring, Jackson Veugen as the Genie of the Jewels, and Nicole Londergan as the Genie of the Lamp. Christmas Holiday Shop404 viewsSt. Anthonys and St. Ritas parishioners combined efforts to give the community a Christmas Holiday Shop and Celebration on Saturday, December 5, 2009. The basement of St. Anthonys church was decked out in snowflakes, wreaths, bells, bows, and a Santa sleigh. Santa listened patiently as children told him what they wanted for Christmas. 4th Fireworks404 viewsDespite funding setbacks, the Marion fireworks took place this year at Silver Shell Beach under perfectly clear skies. Revelers enjoyed the patriotic music of Phil Sanborn and the Marion Concert Band while brilliant colors illuminated the harbor. Close to 240 people came to enjoy an old-fashioned clambake with the Lions Club, the Mattapoisett Boy Scout Troop 53, Mattapoisett firefighters, and the Firefighters Auxiliary Club all pitching in to help.
