Overcast skies were welcomed but the July 4th heat was tough for the runners and the cheering crowds who begged for shade. The field of runners was well over 1,000 and coming in first was Joe Farrand at 26:59. Shortly after, the first female to finish was Kim Bolick at 29:54. Festival of Trees 406 viewsThe Festival of Trees opened on November 27 with a reception at the Cushing Community Center on Route 6 in Marion. Spot406 viewsKevin Garell from Boston Dynamics brought a robot named "Spot" for a lively demonstration at Rochester Memorial School. With assistance from his son Gavin, Mr. Garell showed off some of Spot's "training" and capabilities. The demonstration was the culmination of a series of projects during which Grade 6 students took on a challenge from NASA to design robotic devices with specific functions.
