Thanksgiving Dinner387 viewsOld Rochester Regional Junior High School eighth grade students and staff volunteered over the weekend to present the 24th annual Thanksgiving dinner for Tri-Town senior citizens on Sunday, November 23. Hot-To-Trot Dog Walk387 viewsOn November 30, a spring-like winter’s day, the Sippican Lands Trust held its 2nd annual Hot-To-Trot Post-Thanksgiving Day dog walk. About 12 dogs of all shapes and sizes brought their humans out for a guided tour of the White Eagle property located off Route 6 in Marion. Dogs received stylish orange neckerchiefs and dog treats. Breakfast with Santa387 viewsMarion’s Police Brotherhood held its 3rd annual toy drive and pancake breakfast with Santa at Sippican School on December 6. Families were asked to bring new unwrapped toys, and in return they were given a delicious pancake breakfast and a photo with Santa. She is a major advocate and fundraiser for an organization working towards finding a cure and raising awareness of uveitis. Annual Marion SpringFest387 viewsMay 9 was the day of the Annual Marion SpringFest sponsored by the Sippican Lands Trust and the Tree and Parks Committee! There was a performance by the Toe Jam Puppet Band, a Birds of Prey demonstration, face painting, and a rock-climbing wall. Women’s Fund Tiara 5K 387 viewsParticipants in the Women’s Fund Tiara 5K Mother’s Day race enjoyed fine weather and fun, breaking the record of registered runners with 1,000 who took part. Memorial Day in Mattapoisett387 viewsMemorial Day in Mattapoisett was observed as it traditionally is, with ceremonies in front of the Mattapoisett Library followed by the parade march to Cushing Cemetery. This year’s guest speaker, Mattapoisett resident U.S. Army Sergeant Edward Sweeney, Jr. stirred the emotions of those in attendance with his speech about sacrifice and the American way of life.
