Rochester Memorial Day330 viewsRochester fared far better with its Memorial Day celebration than Marion and Mattapoisett did with theirs on rainy Monday. Sunday, May 29, was a picture perfect day for a parade. At the Town Hall, the names of the fallen soldiers were read aloud and the Rochester Memorial School Band played patriotic songs before heading out for the parade. Photos by Colin Veitch

Old Rochester Regional High Graduation 330 viewsThe Old Rochester Regional High Graduation ceremony on June 4 included speeches from Superintendent Doug White, Principal Michael Devoll, Class President Bailey Sweet, and Valedictorian Paige Watterson. Dollars raised pay for Music Festival fees and transportation, equipment purchase, repair and replacement, reed purchase and scholarship funds. Plumb Library330 viewsA new cupola complete with a copper covered roof and refurbished bronze and copper eagle weathervane now graces the roof of the Plumb Library in Rochester center. Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School carpentry shop students in partnership with Diversified Roofing Systems, New Bedford, owned by Richard Miranda, built the new cupola for the town. Harbor Days 330 viewsHarbor Days came to Mattapoisett this past weekend, and many visitors were gracious enough to spin The Wanderer Wheel for a $1 donation to the Lions Club. Those who played helped raise an extra $523 the Lions Club will use to benefit the community. Buzzards Bay Musicfest330 viewsThis week was the Buzzards Bay Musicfest in Marion, held at the Fireman Center for the Performing Arts at Tabor Academy. The free event brings together musicians from all across the globe for the five-day concert series. During Friday night’s chamber music performance, harp principal Rita Costanzi, the former Principal Harp of the Vancouver Symphony and CBC Radio Orchestra, received a standing ovation for her extraordinary performance.
