Sprinkler Activation at ORR774 viewsThe Mattapoisett and Marion Fire Departments responded to ORR High School at 10:03am on Friday May 8, for a reported fire alarm activation. Upon arrival they found that a sprinkler head had been activated in the auditorium due to heightened heat levels. The cause of the heat was found to be a stuck thermostat on a heater in that area. The students, who vacated the school when the fire alarm sounded, remained outside the school enjoying the warm sunny day as the fire department worked to resolve the issue.

Triathlon 2009774 viewsOver two hundred athletes participated in this year's Mattapoisett Triathlon on Sunday morning, July 12. The athletes endurance was tested over a course which included a quarter-mile swim, a ten-mile bike ride and a three and three quarters-mile run. The race marks the beginning of the Mattapoisett Lions Club's annual Harbor Days Celebration with events including a craft fair, several suppers and a pancake breakfast , which unfold over the course of the week.
