Tour de Crème419 viewsThe Mattapoisett Land Trust in tandem with the Mattapoisett Bike Path Committee held its first Tour de Crème on Sunday, May 22. The fundraiser brought groups on three different courses – 13-, 25-, and 48-miles long – winding their way through area towns and making stops at various local ice cream parlors. Rochester Memorial Day419 viewsRochester fared far better with its Memorial Day celebration than Marion and Mattapoisett did with theirs on rainy Monday. Sunday, May 29, was a picture perfect day for a parade. At Silvershell Beach in Marion, the Marion Recreation Department provided an array of food, fun, and games for beachgoers, and in Mattapoisett, kids enjoyed face painting, sack races, and, of course, plenty of sun. Harbor Days 419 viewsHarbor Days came to Mattapoisett this past weekend, and many visitors were gracious enough to spin The Wanderer Wheel for a $1 donation to the Lions Club. Those who played helped raise an extra $523 the Lions Club will use to benefit the community. Marion Town Party 419 viewsThe town collected hundreds of wood pallets and stacked them sky high in the ball field beside the Town House in anticipation of the annual Marion Town Party on Saturday, August 27. The theme of this year’s party, “Out of This World,” was appropriately represented in the playful banner hung on the stack of firewood and eventually burned along with it in an enormous bonfire.
