Babies and their caregivers enjoy 20 minutes of stories and 20 minutes of social time. Children’s Librarian Rosemary Gray delighted five happy babies with some peekaboo, short stories such as Where is Baby’ Belly Button, and songs like the Itsy Bitsy Spider. Cranberry Outing420 viewsPerfect weather brought out the young and the young at heart to the second annual cranberry harvest at “The Bogs” on Acushnet Road in Mattapoisett, a Buzzards Bay Coalition property. The retired bog acreage is slowly returning to meadows and woodlands. But for now cranberries continue to grow giving the do-it-yourself harvester a chance to enjoy nature’s bounty. Christmas Day Swim420 viewsOn Christmas Day 2014, about 50 hardy souls, young and old alike, ran with yelps of joy into 42-degree winter waters at Mattapoisett’s Town Beach. This annual event raises funds for Helping Hands and Hooves, a nonprofit organization in Mattapoisett that provides horseback riding lessons and therapeutic sessions for people with special needs.
