Tour de Crème340 viewsThis Sunday was the third annual Tour de Crème, a fundraising partnership between the Mattapoisett Land Trust and the Friends of the Mattapoisett Bike Path. The ride started at the Town Beach and wound its way through the Southcoast, making stops at the various creameries along the way. Proceeds of the ride will go towards maintaining the MLT trails and the extension of the bike path to the Mattapoisett/Marion town line. Photos by Glenn C. Silva

Chris Kidd attended the Memorial Day observances at Center School on May 28. This year’s weather was a major improvement from last year’s soaking, but overall participation was down this year. Stayin’ Alive 340 viewsSurvival Week at ORR Junior High kicked off on the early morning of Sunday, June 17, as the 7th-graders boarded the busses for Western Massachusetts for a week of roughing it in the wild. And for this generation, that simply means no electronic devices and no Dunkin’ Donuts. Survival is now in its 46th year and still going strong. 48th Annual Mattapoisett Road Race 340 viewsThe 48th Annual Mattapoisett Road Race once again brought out young and old alike. Overcast skies were welcomed but the July 4th heat was tough for the runners and the cheering crowds who begged for shade. The field of runners was well over 1,000 and coming in first was Joe Farrand at 26:59. Shortly after, the first female to finish was Kim Bolick at 29:54.
