100th Birthday343 viewsRalph Winfield Walker is celebrating a milestone 100th birthday on May 7. Born in 1914, Walker moved to Rochester in 1946 and served on the Finance Committee before serving as selectman for several terms. Walker is credited as the selectman that brought street signs to the roads of Rochester. As the oldest person in Town, Walker holds the Boston Post cane, a longstanding tradition in New England towns. Family and friends honored Walker on May 5 at the Island Terrace Nursing Home where he now resides. Photos

Much Ado About Nothing 343 viewsWhen ORR High School students Ian Hibbert and Jeremy Bare walked out onto the stage in longhaired wigs and skirts, the crowd burst into laughter. Twenty-one students from English teacher Kathleen Brunelle’s Theater class performed Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing on May 22. The performance had a different spin on the original play, the setting being post-World War II, with accompanying music by the Andrews Sisters that, along with period clothing and costumes, brought the play to life.
