Pack 32347 viewsOn Saturday, March 23, 27 Cub Scouts from Pack 32 in Marion advanced in rank. Four of them were fifth graders earning the Arrow of Light Award. This is the highest award a Cub Scout can earn, and it is the only Cub Scout badge that can be worn on the Boy Scout uniform. Memorial Day347 viewsThe rain cancelled the parade and forced the Memorial Day observance indoors on Monday, but many gathered to honor our fallen soldiers and their families inside Center School. Keynote speaker Commander Bryan D. Williams gave a heartfelt speech, while George Randall recited the Gettysburg Address to mark the 100th anniversary of when his father, Jeremiah, first read it on Memorial Day in 1917 at the age of 15. Living History 347 viewsIt looked like July 8, 1776 at Silvershell Beach in Marion this past Saturday. Folks from the Fairhaven Village Militia and Wareham Militia Group in conjunction with Marion Recreation and the Marion Cultural Council took spectators back in time to Colonial Massachusetts during a weekend-long encampment at the beach. Participants in olde-tyme apparel demonstrated what life was like in the 1770s during the Revolutionary War through demonstrations of drilling, cooking, and flintlock musket use. Photos by Jean
