Marion Art Center Members Show348 viewsMembers of the Marion Art Center showcased their work during the opening reception of the MAC Annual Winter Members Show on January 9. Members were allowed to submit up to three pieces, and MAC Executive Director Deborah Bokelkamp said members not only have artistic skill, but they possess the skill of self-expression. “The person doing it feels it,” said Bokelkamp. “It’s not just the act, it’s the expression.” The show runs until February 28. Marion Natural History Museum348 viewsMany thanks to state-certified forester Phil Benjamin, Brian Butler of Oxbow Associates, and Gary Johnson of the Mattapoisett Land Trust, for donating their time and expertise to introduce the Old Hammondtown School sixth grade to the several of the unique ecosystems in Nasketucket State Park. Phil led a walk through the upland forests along the "Holly Trail", Brian led a walk along the intertidal shoreline, and Gary introduced the students to a vernal pool.
