Residents watched the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department’s Ken Ballinger demonstrate K-9 tactics, got a feel for SWAT, EMS, and Fire vehicles; and enjoyed pizza and ice cream. Tabor Academy’s Day of Service430 viewsTabor Academy’s Day of Service was a success, spanning much of the South Coast during ambitious volunteer projects. Scores of students participated in work at the Bog Jog, at the Sippican School in Marion and Alma Del Mar in New Bedford, and at the Dartmouth YMCA, where they picked 2,150 pounds of eggplant, tomatoes, squash, as well as sweet and hot peppers, amounting to upward of 9,000 servings for those in need. Healing Little Hearts 5K 430 viewsUpward of 300 runners competed in the inaugural Healing Little Hearts 5K on a beautiful Columbus Day morning. The organization helps fund research efforts into children’s heart defects. “From my family and from the families you’re helping, thank you,” said Kelly Weglowski, who, along with husband, Marc, and daughter Jillian founded Healing Little Hearts in the midst of their son and brother Brady’s own battle.
