Octopurrfest352 viewsThe Rochester cat shelter “It’s All About the Animals” held its 2nd Annual Octopurrfest on Sunday, October 2. Raising over $7,000, owner/operator Pam Robinson said this year’s event was “absolutely over the top!” The shelter is in the process of building an addition to create a cat room and a porch. “I cannot thank everyone enough for their wonderful donation and participation,” said Robinson. Mattapoisett Firemen’s Reunion352 viewsRetired firemen gathered to celebrate the first Mattapoisett Firemen’s Reunion on October 16 at Ned’s Point. Former members of the Mattapoisett Fire Department along with several others from Fairhaven, Rochester, and Marion and current members of the department enjoyed the splendid fall afternoon while reliving past events in careers that spanned decades. On hand to greet the men and women as they arrived was retired Chief Ron Scott, who spent 42 years on the Mattapoisett Fire Department.

This was an amazing opportunity for the boys to learn about this 102-year-old vessel as well as water safety and gain some knowledge about sailing.

Cushing VFW Post 2425, which in return gave a moving farewell as it disbanded this year and donated the VFW building to the town.
