Derby Days433 viewsOn Saturday, January 30, 2010 Marion's Scouts Pack 32 held the first Pine Wood Derby in three years. The Derby was held at the Sippican School where scouts raced cars weighing less than 5 ounces down a sloped wooden track. Everyone cheered as the wooden cars raced down the track in packs or four. Relay for Life433 viewsOver 200 Tri-Town residents gathered to help raise money for the American Cancer Society by participating in the fifth annual Relay for Life. The Relay started at 5:00 pm on Friday June 11 and continued until 12:00 pm on Saturday. Participants walked the track at ORR throughout the night and into the next afternoon as a way to honor cancer survivors and those who lost their battle to cancer. Personalized luminaria bags lined the track, lighting the way for the participants throughout the night.

The town appropriated $3.8 million for the new building, which replaces the old police station on Spring Street. Among those in attendance were Police Chief Lincoln Miller, the Marion police department, the Board of Selectmen, Town Administrator Paul Dawson, Plymouth County Sheriff Joseph McDonald and members of the Police Station Building Committee. Coastal Sweep!433 viewsLed by Marion resident Peter McDonald, environmentally-minded locals and Tabor students descended upon Marion’s Silvershell Beach and Planting Island, Mattapoisett Town Beach and Wareham’s Onset Beach to pick up trash and debris on the morning of September 17, 2011. The residents cleaned the beaches in solidarity with 400,000 individuals in 120 countries, all who participated in a global beach cleanup orchestrated by the Ocean Conservancy. Tree Sales433 views'Tis the season, once more! On the Saturday after Thanksgiving, November 26, 2011, locals stopped by the Rochester Women's Clubhouse to pick up their fresh wreaths and trees. The proceeds from the sale helped the Rochester Women's Club purchase a new roof for their Clubhouse. The tree and wreath sale will continue on the weekends of December 3 and 4 and December 10 and 11 from noon to 2:00 pm. SUV Fire433 viewsAn SUV was completely consumed by a fire in Rochester on Braley Hill Road, on Saturday evening, January 7, 2012. A passing motorist saw the flames and helped direct the occupants to safety. No injuries were reported, but Police Chief Paul Magee reported that the vehicle was a "total loss".
