Visitors enjoyed Marion buildings festively decorated for the holiday season. There were 12 stops on the tour, including 5 private residences and several historical town buildings. Santa's Arrival353 viewsMarion children gave a rock star’s welcome to Santa Claus, who arrived at Marion’s Annual Holiday Stroll by boat on December 13. The pouring rain didn’t stop Santa from spreading candy and holiday cheer to the crowd of exciting children. Annual Tree Sale353 viewsA Decorating Committee from the Sippican Woman’s Club produced over 50 festive trees for the Tree Spree, which started in Handy’s Tavern. The tavern was decked out with themed trees, including a Barbie tree, a Hannukah tree, a Mallard duck tree, and even a tree decorated with recycled items like bottles and plastic bags. 4th Fireworks353 viewsDespite funding setbacks, the Marion fireworks took place this year at Silver Shell Beach under perfectly clear skies. Revelers enjoyed the patriotic music of Phil Sanborn and the Marion Concert Band while brilliant colors illuminated the harbor. Azorean Maritime 353 viewsThe Azorean Maritime Heritage Society in New Bedford, MA is hosting about 70 people from the Azores in early September 2010 for the International Azorean Whaleboat Regatta with teams from USA, racing against teams from Pico and Faial.
