The Mattapoisett Land Trust’s annual tradition continues with help from the folks at Brownell Systems and their trusty crane. Memorial Day Boat Race413 viewsThe Rochester Memorial Day Boat Race went off with very few hitches, despite the bursting of the bog flume at Grandma Hartley’s Reservoir just a couple days before the race. Hook's Head 413 viewsHook's Head is in County Wexford, Ireland. As the oldest, intact, functional lighthouse in the world, it was constructed in 1172 by Knight William Marshall. There are 115 stairs to the top of the tower which is constructed of local limestone with walls measuring 4 meters thick. Music was provided by Felonious Funk, and party-goers enjoyed a wide array of finger foods and fine spirits. Friendly conversation lingered over the silent auction tables, which offered original oil paintings, handmade felted purses, memberships to the Wareham YMCA and the Marion Art Center, and plenty of gift certificate to area businesses. Poker Run412 viewsMotorcyclists gathered Sunday morning, September 20, in the parking lot of ORR to ride in the third annual Poker Run for Alex Pateakos. Alex is a five-year-old Marion boy who suffers from Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Money raised by the poker run will benefit Alex, and Families of SMA, a group that helps families like the Pateakos live their lives as close to normal as possible.
