Rochester Council on Aging469 viewsIt was thanksgiving in May as the Rochester Council on Aging (COA) hosted an appreciation celebration honoring volunteers on May 31. Balloons and festive tables, a three course meal catered by New Bedford’s Riccardi’s, music by the Relics (courtesy of the Rochester Cultural Council) certificates of appreciation and 175 gifts (one for each volunteer) were all part of the celebration.

Tabor Academy’s Day of Service469 viewsTabor Academy’s Day of Service was a success, spanning much of the South Coast during ambitious volunteer projects. Scores of students participated in work at the Bog Jog, at the Sippican School in Marion and Alma Del Mar in New Bedford, and at the Dartmouth YMCA, where they picked 2,150 pounds of eggplant, tomatoes, squash, as well as sweet and hot peppers, amounting to upward of 9,000 servings for those in need. The Lions were collecting non-perishable food and unwrapped new toys to distribute to those in need during the holiday.
