The Mattapoisett-Fairhaven Parents Music Club used the proceeds from the opening dance that year to purchase musical instruments for the Fairhaven High School band, and square dancing inspired one local girl to become a professional square-dance caller. This year’s race had more runners than ever, despite the wind and cold temperatures.
