Buzzards Bay Watershed Ride 357 viewsIt was a windy ride for the 120 participants of the 9th Annual Buzzards Bay Watershed Ride on October 4. From Westport to Falmouth, cyclists rode either the 75-mile or 35-mile route to raise funds for the Buzzards Bay Coalition, bringing in nearly $90,000. 5th Annual 5K Turkey Trot357 viewsThere were 31 registered runners for this year’s 5th Annual 5K Turkey Trot for Marion Recreation on Sunday, November 22. The course takes runners from Tabor Academy down Front Street through the village and back again to Tabor. Hot to Trot357 viewsThe third annual “Hot to Trot” dog walk hosted by the Sippican Lands Trust brought about 20 dogs and at least twice as many humans out for a post-Thanksgiving walk at the SLT’s White Eagle property in Marion on November 29. Arbor Day357 viewsOutgoing Rochester Town Administrator Michael McCue led a small Arbor Day gathering on Friday, April 29, outside the Rochester Police Station where the Highway Department has planted ten Leyland cypress trees to screen the gas tank located at the site. Rep. William Straus and Maria Connor, representing Senator Michael Rodrigues, attended the event. Turtle Care357 viewsSome of the residents of Jenney Lane at The Cove in Marion have found a new passion in rescuing diamond-backed terrapin eggs and safely releasing the hatchlings into the wild. A private neighborhood group, along with “Turtle Guy” Don Lewis and wife Sue Weiber Nourse, created a terrapin habitat restoration project knows as the turtle garden at The Cove.
