Marion Natural History Museum471 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum afterschool group hit the beach Wednesday afternoon. We found many types of fish, including Puffer fish, Tautogs, and other animals such as Mantis shrimp, and all sorts of crabs. It was a great way to celebrate one of the last days of summer. Many thanks to Sarah Porter and all those parents who helped out. Photo courtesy Elizabeth Leidhold

Marion Christmas Stroll 471 viewsThe Marion Christmas Stroll is one of the quintessential holiday events in Tri-Town, with Santa making his grand entrance via boat and hopping aboard a horse-drawn carriage to ride through Marion village with some lucky kids who hop aboard with him. There were several Christmas celebrity sightings, and lots of music and entertainment into the evening. Photos by Colin Veitch

Unseasonably Warm471 viewsA viburnum tree on North Street in Mattapoisett continues to bloom on New Year’s Eve day after an unseasonably warm fall and start to winter, creating an unusual juxtaposition against a still-hanging Christmas ornament in the background. The day marked the end of the region’s warmest December on record according to the NOAA. Photo by Jean Perry

Marion Memorial Day471 viewsRochester fared far better with its Memorial Day celebration than Marion and Mattapoisett did with theirs on rainy Monday. Sunday, May 29, was a picture perfect day for a parade. At the Town Hall, the names of the fallen soldiers were read aloud and the Rochester Memorial School Band played patriotic songs before heading out for the parade. Photos by Colin Veitch

Mattapoisett Memorial Day471 viewsThe rainy weather kept the Monday Memorial Day observances inside in Marion and Mattapoisett and, although the parades were both canceled, plenty of residents turned out to remember the brave souls we lost in war and honor their memories.
