Antique Car Show438 views It was a great turnout for the Agawam’s 3rd Annual Antique Car Show at Washburn Park in Marion on Saturday, August 29. Classic car entrants signed their antique automobiles up for a chance to win first, second, or third place in the show. The sponsoring group, Agawam Chapter No. 121 Order of the Eastern Star, uses the proceeds from the event to benefit various charities the group supports. Mass Mini Tractor Pullers 438 viewsThe Rochester Country Fairgrounds hosted a tractor pull of the Mass Mini Tractor Pullers Association on October 10. The tractors are hand-built by their owners, using naturally-aspirated auto engines that are 500-1,000 horsepower. Marion Natural History Museum438 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum afterschool group had a chance to explore the soils last Wednesday. Many thanks to soil scientist Maggie Payne of the USDA's Natural Resource and Conservation Service. We learned what makes a "good" soil and why that's important to everyone, from farming to building a house. Hot to Trot438 viewsThe third annual “Hot to Trot” dog walk hosted by the Sippican Lands Trust brought about 20 dogs and at least twice as many humans out for a post-Thanksgiving walk at the SLT’s White Eagle property in Marion on November 29. Marion Village 5K438 viewsThe number of participants in this year’s Marion Village 5K might have been down slightly according to race organizers, but the sentiment of fun and competition certainly was not on Saturday, June 25. Taking first place for men was Andrew Sukeforth of Middleboro with a time of 15:43, and Meg Hughes of Rochester won first place in the women’s division with a time of 19:50. Marion Electric Cars438 viewsMarion now has a fleet of all-electric cars after receiving an additional three electric BMW i3s that arrived on Monday, July 11.
