It's All About The Animals440 viewsIt's All About The Animals, a non-profit cat shelter in Rochester, Mass., has been responsible for helping to save the lives of over 250 cats since its inception in 2009. The no-kill shelter always has several animals on hand for adoption. Check out these furry felines, who have all recently been officially adopted by loving families from around the Tri-Town. Tabor Hockey440 viewsOn Sunday, January 6, the Tabor Academy Varsity B Hockey Team hosted Academie St. Louis from Quebec, Canada for a non-conference game. Once a year, a team travels down from Canada, and while the Seawolves were not victorious, the game proved to be a learning experience for the players facing off in an international match up. Marion Art Center Show440 viewsThe Marion Art Center unveiled its new show in a special opening reception at the gallery on Friday, January 11. The 2013 Winter Members Exhibition features over 60 works by about 30 local artists, some well-known and some new to the local art scene. This is the first of two bi-annual shows that showcase work by members of MAC, from oil paintings to multi-media. Check out some of the great art work being created by Tri-Town artists. Annual Turkey Dinner440 viewsLast Saturday over one hundred seniors enjoyed the annual turkey dinner with all the trimmings sponsored by the Mattapoisett Lions Club. Several of our volunteers also delivered meals to those seniors that could not attend. Music and laughter filled Raynard Hall at the Congregational Church. The event was chaired by Lions Joe and Janet Rego and the Boy Scouts did outstanding work serving the seniors and helping with clean up.

Old Rochester Little League440 views The Old Rochester Little League held their parade and opening day on Saturday April 27. The festivities included the National Anthem sung by Jennel Garcia and opening pitches thrown by Police Chief’s Lincoln Miller (Marion), Mary Lyons (Mattapoisett), and Paul McGee (Rochester), as well as Fire Chiefs Thomas Joyce (Marion), Andrew Murray (Mattapoisett) and Scott Weigel (Rochester). Memorial Day Boat Race440 viewsDan Lawrence and William D. Watling III of Rochester (above left) broke the race record, winning the men’s division with a time of 1:46:59. Amy Hartley-Matteson of Mattapoisett and Katherine Hartley of Rochester (2:11:14) won the women’s division for the third consecutive time – the second time they’ve three-peated. Tri-Town Relay for Life440 viewsHundreds of residents attended the Tri-Town Relay for Life last weekend, raising nearly $40,000 for the American Cancer Society. The overnight event included a candlelight vigil for family and friends whose lives were taken by the disease, as well as a celebration for those who have survived it. Photos by Felix Perez.

‘The Secret’440 viewsThe Marion Art Center wrapped up the first session of Artstart with a production of ‘The Secret’ this Friday. The two-week program for children ages four to nine focuses on arts, crafts, music, theater and stories. Program director Nancy Sparklin said the children had great fun and all got along wonderfully.
