Marion Fire Department419 viewsThe Marion Fire Department celebrated the careers of three of its retiring firefighters on November 8. Deputy Chiefs William Scott, Charles Blanchette, and Scott Cowell were toasted (and roasted) by Marion Fire Chief Thomas Joyce before family and friends at the Marion VFW Saturday night. The wives of MacDougal and Blanchette, and the daughter of Cowell, attached new deputy chief badges on the three gentlemen during the pinning ceremony, and the three selectmen honored the retiring chiefs with gifts.

Thanksgiving Dinner419 viewsOld Rochester Regional Junior High School eighth grade students and staff volunteered over the weekend to present the 24th annual Thanksgiving dinner for Tri-Town senior citizens on Sunday, November 23. Hot-To-Trot Dog Walk419 viewsOn November 30, a spring-like winter’s day, the Sippican Lands Trust held its 2nd annual Hot-To-Trot Post-Thanksgiving Day dog walk. About 12 dogs of all shapes and sizes brought their humans out for a guided tour of the White Eagle property located off Route 6 in Marion. Dogs received stylish orange neckerchiefs and dog treats. This annual event raises funds for Helping Hands and Hooves, a nonprofit organization in Mattapoisett that provides horseback riding lessons and therapeutic sessions for people with special needs.
